Briefly
Aaron Ates serves as the senior feed grains analyst in the Crops Branch, Markets and Trade Economics Division at USDA’s Economic Research Service. He is a member of the interagency committee that develops feed grains projections for the monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates. His primary responsibilities include market analysis, research, and coordinating monthly outlook reports for feed grains as well as associated data products.
Background
Aaron joined ERS in 2021. As a contributing economist in the oil crops outlook program, he also served as a member of the oilseeds interagency committee. Prior to joining ERS, Aaron worked in the private sector as a Managing Economist for a global consulting firm where he assisted testifying experts with economic analyses for large-scale antitrust litigation matters across various industries. Aaron’s previous academic research focused on forecasting meat prices and linking the supply of farm commodities to consumer demands at the retail level.
