Briefly
Benjamin Gramig is a research agricultural economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service (ERS), where he conducts applied research at the interface between agriculture and the environment. The majority of Ben’s research is motivated by science-based decision-making and public policy, and is often interdisciplinary in nature. He has a strong interest in the economics of water quality, ecosystem services, and economic management of spatial-dynamic processes in the environment.
Background
Prior to joining ERS, Ben was an associate professor in agricultural and consumer economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2017–2021) and in agricultural economics at Purdue University (2008–2017). Ben’s research has been funded by USDA, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the National Science Foundation, among others.
