Katherine Baldwin is a research agricultural economist in the Agricultural Policy and Models (APM) Branch of the Market and Trade Economics Division (MTED). As a member of the Agricultural Policy Team of the APM Branch, Katherine’s primary responsibilities are contributing to the agency’s multilateral reporting obligations and analyzing U.S. agricultural policy.

Background

Katherine rejoined ERS in 2021 as a research agricultural economist specializing in agricultural policy analysis, with a particular focus on resilience and risk management. Katherine’s experience prior to rejoining ERS includes positions at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, and the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) in Washington D.C.. Katherine began her professional career at ERS in 2009 as a rice and citrus commodity outlook analyst. Throughout her career, Katherine's work has covered various issues related to agriculture—including risk management, taxation, agricultural statistics, food loss and waste, trade competitiveness, trade facilitation, and commodity outlook and analysis.

Education

Katherine holds an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. She also holds dual B.A.s in International Relations and Spanish & Latin American Studies from American University.
