Keenan Marchesi is an agricultural economist, specializing in spatial and applied econometrics in the Food Markets Branch in the Food Economics Division of USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS).

Background

Keenan joined the ERS in July 2020, upon completion of his Ph.D. at Clark University. Using spatial and temporal empirical methods, he investigates the strategic behavior of food services and retailers, and how consumers interact with these retailers. In addition, he researches food-away-from-home consumption and expenditure trends, and the implications for food access and health outcomes. Other areas of research have included consequences of civil conflict on nutritional outcomes in developing countries, and the spatial clustering of craft breweries and the potential spillover effects from neighboring firms.
